The Porter Cable 7424 dual action polisher is the most user-friendly and foolproof polisher currently on the market. With a random orbital action, there is virtually no risk of marring the paint surface with this machine. The kit includes foam pads by Lake Country, the maker of our Wolfgang EuroTech Smart Foam Pads. The foam buffing pads feature hook & loop backing to enable quick pad changes. They are a perfect fit on the 5” Flexible Hook & Loop backing plate included in this kit.
I recommend having more than one of each type of pad on hand as you’re detailing. When the foam pad you’re using becomes caked with polish, you can quickly switch to a clean pad and keep working. Not to mention, your polishing and swirl remover foam pads generally work harder than your finishing pads and may wear out faster. The Porter Cable 7424 - XL Foam Pad Kit gives you two each of the orange light cutting, yellow cutting, and white polishing foam pads to try and balance the wear time with the finishing pads.

Porter Cable 7424 Dual
Action Polisher
Built to last, this rugged 3.7 amp polisher has 100% ball bearing
construction. The spiral and bevel gearing provides for smooth operation and
efficient transfer of power. A variable speed dial sets the orbit rate
between 2,500 and 6,000 orbits per minute for precise control. The speed
dial is on the end of the motor, out of the way, preventing accidental
changing of the speed. A handy slide switch prevents hand fatigue when the
unit must be run for the extended periods of time that polishing operations
require. The random orbit action of the special six-inch polishing pad
provides a smooth, swirl-free finish. An included side handle fits either
the left or right side for maximum comfort. Includes polisher, polishing pad
no. 54745, wrench no. 48779, and operator's manual.

Dual Action 5 Inch HD Hook & Loop Backing Plate
Constructed of flexible urethane, this 5 inch backing plate has hook and loop material permanently secured from edge to edge. A recessed edge protects the paint from impact and the post is made of durable stainless steel. The 5/16 inch thread fits any dual action polisher with a 5/8 inch thread.

CCS 6.5 inch Yellow Cutting Foam Pads
Use this pad to apply compounds or polishes to remove severe oxidation,
swirls, and scratches. It is the most aggressive and should not be used on
new or like-new paint finishes. Always follow this pad with an orange light
cutting pad and a fine polish and then a white pad to refine the paint until
it is smooth. |

CCS 6.5 inch Orange Light Cutting Foam Pads
Firm, high density foam for scratch and defect removal. Use this light
cutting foam pad with polishes and swirl removers. It’s an all around pad
that will work on most light to moderate imperfections. |

CCS 6.5 inch White Polishing Foam Pads
The white polishing pads feature high absorption foam for the application of
waxes, micro-fine polishes and sealants. This pad has very light cutting
power so it’s perfect for pre-wax cleaners. |

Finishing Foam Pad
Composition is firm enough to withstand added pressure during final
finishing to remove buffer swirls. The gray finishing pad has no cut and
will apply thin, even coats of waxes, sealants, and glazes. |

The blue pad has soft composition for applying glaze, finishing polish,
sealants, and liquid waxes. It is the softest of all the pads and can be
used for product removal if desired. |

Cobra Microfiber Bonnets 6” (COLOR MAY VARY)
These six-inch Cobra™ microfiber bonnets are well-made, reversible, and
machine washable. With a 70/30 blend, they are super soft and gentle on all
paint finishes. Cover your foam pad directly or layer them over the lamb’s
wool leveling pad for a more cushioned application. Either way, they are
superior at applying products, polishing and shining.

Lambswool Leveling Pad
The lambswool pad is best used as a cushion underneath a bonnet on your
Porter Cable 7424. The wool pad serves as a barrier between the bonnet and
the backing plate. Unlike foam pads that can be crushed under a bonnet, the
lambswool pad retains its shape and can be used for light compounding if you
desire.

Pinnacle XMT Polishing Foam Pad Cleaner
Pinnacle XMT Polishing Pad Cleaner contains a degreasing agent that breaks
up oil and eliminates every last trace of residue. Soap (as in dish soap)
can leave a residue of its own, so there is no soap in this cleaner. Intense
cleaners and degreasers break up oily deposits left by car care products so
the pad rinses completely clean. This pad cleaner is ready to use in a
convenient pump spray bottle.

Pinnacle XMT Polishing Foam Pad Conditioner
Prevention of dry buffing is as easy as misting an unused pad with Pinnacle
XMT Polishing Pad Conditioner. It only takes a couple of spritzes to prep
the pad for polishing. The rich lubricants instantly penetrate the pad,
softening and conditioning the material. Even if the pad has never been
used, it will glide across the paint like you’re halfway through the detail
session.
